This is a blog about books and writing. And culture. And politics and sometimes art. But, like my life, mostly about books and writing. Here you will find reviews of whatever I’m reading, news I stumble upon about authors and writing. You may find an essay or two. A story about my search for an MFA. For heaven’s sake, it’s a blog. You know what to expect. But here’s an introduction, I guess.
I am a twenty-one-year-old female taking some time off from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. I’m in the middle of a double major of journalism and political science. I have no idea when or if I’m graduating. Recently I’ve entertained the ides of a creative writing MFA, law school, or taking business classes and opening an independent bookstore. In other words, my life currently has no concrete direction.
My family lives in Denver and for much of my childhood I lived in a suburb of New Orleans. I also briefly lived in Pasadena. I tend to call home wherever my feet are.
Outside of school, I spend my time reading, writing, and hanging out at a local coffee house or with friends. I don’t drive because I’ve never gotten my driver’s license though I might someday. I’m a vegetarian. I’ve been diagnosed on one occasion or another with major depression, bipolar II, and borderline personality disorder. At the beginning of the year, I became very enthusiastic about visual journaling. I also like three-dimensional puzzles.
I’ve kept websites and blogs and online journals intermittently since I was eight, so I can make no guarantees about the longevity of this site. (As you’ll notice, two months after it’s creation I decided to take a five-month break.) In the meantime, I’d like to share some good books with you. Hear what you have to say about them and maybe get to know you.
Welcome.
That may be my favorite blog introduction ever – I know why you’re here, what you plan on doing, and a bit of your background and current ground – thanks.
[...] Anyway, if you’re new here you might want to check out my recently updated preface. [...]
